On October 3 2025, Social Impact Steward (SIS) had the privilege of facilitating a session at the 2025 Diageo Learning for Life Programme, an initiative designed to empower young people with essential employability skills. The programme, implemented in partnership with the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), focuses on preparing participants for the evolving demands of the workforce while promoting entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods.
Building Capacity for Sustainable Impact
At Social Impact Steward, we believe that empowering individuals with practical life skills and relevant digital competencies is a cornerstone of sustainable development. During our session, we focused on building and strengthening capacity in life skills, particularly emphasizing communication, adaptability, leadership, and self-management; skills that are crucial for career readiness and personal growth.
Beyond soft skills, we also introduced participants to digital tools and strategies that can help scale impact and open new pathways for professional and entrepreneurial success. The goal was to inspire a mindset shift from dependency to empowerment, helping young people see themselves not just as job seekers, but as solution providers and changemakers.

The Learning for Life Programme reflects a shared commitment between Diageo, LSETF, and Social Impact Steward to promote inclusive growth and youth empowerment in Nigeria. By bridging the gap between education, employability, and entrepreneurship, the initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
