Festus Fajemilo Foundation Rings in 2026 with a Joyful Children’s New Year Party

The Festus Fajemilo Foundation (FFF) hosted its annual Children’s New Year Party on January 18, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Hall, Rita’s Events and Suites, Abule-Egba, Lagos, bringing together children with spina bifida and hydrocephalus (SBH), their families, and supporters. The event aimed to promote social inclusion, celebrate abilities, and raise awareness about SBH.

The party began at 10:30 am with guest registration, warm welcomes, and opening prayers by an adult living with hydrocephalus, followed by the Nigerian national anthem. The MC energized the hall with games, jokes, and a dancing competition, creating a lively and inclusive atmosphere.

FFF’s Executive Director, Mr. Afolabi Fajemilo delivered a heartfelt welcome address, followed by a PowerPoint presentation highlighting the Foundation’s vision, mission, achievements, ongoing projects, and ways to get involved. Guests gained insights into the Foundation’s impact and efforts to support children and families living with SBH.

The highlight of the day was the FFF King & Queen 2026 contest, featuring five children aged 12–14. Contestants were scored on their knowledge of spina bifida, hydrocephalus, FFF, disability rights, current affairs, and personal style. Samara Funmilayo and Micheal Afolabi emerged as the new Queen and King, earning ₦25,000 each, which was later matched by pledges, bringing each child’s total to ₦160,000. The contest was both educational and engaging, reinforcing awareness about primary prevention of neural tube defects.

Following the contest, a networking session allowed guests to interact with children, families, and volunteers while enjoying sumptuous meals and music. The new King and Queen cut the party cake, flanked by board members and special guests, marking a memorable moment.

The event also featured donations and awards for parents, pioneering families, and grandparents, including cash gifts, transportation support, and Ankara fabrics, ensuring that everyone felt appreciated. Gifts were distributed to all children, young adults, and adults with SBH, including nutritional, educational, and recreational items.

With 285 participants in attendance, including children, families, staff, volunteers, and board members, the FFF Children’s New Year Party 2026 was a resounding success. It fostered inclusion, celebration, and joy, leaving lasting memories for all attendees.
