
Social Impact Steward Champions the Call for Women’s Empowerment at the People’s
Republic of China Women’s Empowerment Dialogue
On October 19, 2025, Social Impact Steward (SIS) proudly participated in the Lagos Forum

Women’s Empowerment Dialogue, hosted by the Consulate General of the People’s
Republic of China in Lagos and the Association of Chinese Women in Nigeria.
The event brought together policymakers, women leaders, development experts, and advocates
to discuss practical pathways for advancing women’s participation in leadership, business, and
social development.

In her keynote address, Consul General Yan Yuqing reaffirmed China’s commitment to gender
equality, citing the nation’s progress over the past 30 years since the Beijing World Conference
on Women. She highlighted key global initiatives, including China’s pledge of $10 million to UN
Women and the launch of 1,000 livelihood programs prioritizing women and girls.
Also in attendance were Honourable Bolaji Cecilia Dada, Honourable Commissioner for Women
Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Lagos State; Dr. Oreoluwa Finnih-Awokoya, Special Adviser on

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to the Lagos State Governor; Zhou Jun, President of

the Association of Chinese Women in Nigeria; Barrister Olufunke Oduwole, President of the
International Women’s Society, Nigeria; and Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin, renowned women’s rights
activist and President of Women Arise.

Representing Social Impact Steward, Oyebola Oyedele gave an insightful talk on “Empowering
Women as Catalysts for Sustainable Change”, emphasizing the need to move beyond advocacy
to capacity building, skills development, a
nd accountability.She highlighted that women’s
empowerment must be viewed not as charity, but as an investment in sustainable development,
economic growth, and societal transformation.”
